Salsa Syllabus

Beginners Level 1
For those who have never taken a salsa class or have ever danced at all, this is the class for you... We will be breaking down all of the basics from the very first steps forward...  Preparing you for Beginners Level two and getting your feet wet on the dance floor! In this session we will show you the following basic steps.

The Basic
Side Rock
Back Rock (Open Break)
Right turns (I go U go)
Cross Body Lead
and The copa


Beginners Level 2
For those who have already been through beginners level one or can demonstrate proficiency in the above set of moves. (If you know the moves but not by the names, come in and we will place you in the appropriate level)  In this level we will cover the following steps/moves.


Left Turns
The Sombrero
Cumbia Step
and
1 1/2 Left (ladies)


Intermediate (1) 
For those who have already been through beginners level one and two or can demonstrate proficiency in the above sets of moves. (If you know the moves but not by the names, come in and we will place you in the appropriate level)  In this level we will cover the following steps/moves.

Revolution
Right Turn with a Check
Back to Back (with One and Two Hands)
Inside Turn with a Check
Basket
1 1/2 Right (Ladies)

Description of the Levels
Level Beginners 1 - If you are new to Salsa, have never taken a Salsa Dance Class before, or learned to dance Salsa in a different style.
Level Beginners 2
- If you  have taken a beginner Salsa Dance Class and are comfortable with the Basic, Cross Body Lead, and Basic Turns.
Level Beginners 3 - You do not have to think about the footwork as much and can lead or follow all of the basic steps and turns with some confidence. Transition to Intermediate.
Level Intermediate 1 - Intermediate combinations and moves, In this level, you should be able to execute the basics without having to think about your footwork.  Intermediate levels focus on patterns, combinations, styling, and continuity.
